However, it’s difficult to (1) find quality products, and (2) get good results selling those products.
Most affiliate marketers never generate one sale! It’s a proven fact. This happens for a variety of different reasons, but it typically boils down to traffic. It’s a good idea to pick a niche that you understand. For instance, if you are a personal trainer, it’s probably best to pick the weight loss or health and wellness niche. You need a niche you know, so you can understand “how” your customer thinks. This will help you with your marketing efforts.
Step # 2: Search for Products
Once you decide on your niche, your next step is to search for products. You can visit any of the search engines and type in “your niche + affiliate product” and come up with some results. You can also visit ClickBank.com, which is one of the leading affiliate sites online. I recommend you find 2-5 different affiliate products and test them out before you start promoting them. It’s also good to look for a product with decent profit margins, at least, $30 per sale. That way, you can afford to advertise.
Step # 3: Pick an Affiliate Product
Once you’ve tried out a few products, your next step is to pick the best product. Since you’ve done your research, this should be pretty easy to do. Before you choose a product, make sure the affiliate has plenty of training, marketing materials, banner ads, and other resources for you to use.
Step # 4: Promote the Affiliate Product
This is where the rubber meets the road. You must develop a marketing strategy on how you will promote the product. Common methods include postcard marketing, video marketing, article marketing, search engine optimization and pay per click. You can succeed with any of these methods. You can also lose your shirt if you don’t know what you are doing. It’s good to pick one method at a time and stick with it until you master it. If you are just getting started, pick the method you are most knowledgeable about and start with that one.
Step # 5: Monitor Progress and Split Test
It’s so important to monitor your progress. You must find out which marketing efforts work, and which ones don’t. You should use some type of tracking program to determine which sources produce the most leads, most sales, highest conversion rates, etc. Split test everything you do. This will help you make small improvements that add up to big improvements over a period of time.
Step # 6 Roll Out Your Major Marketing Campaign
Once you know what works, you can roll out your major marketing campaign with confidence. You will know which advertising produces the best results and gives you the best return on your investment.
